WEB DESK: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Makand Nirvana’s admiration of Pakistan’s ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) and calling it the first step towards normalizing Pak-India relations is being considered a step forward for peace process between two nuclear neighbors.
In an interview to Indian media, Indian Army Chief General Manoj Makhandranwa said that the three-month ceasefire on the Line of Control in Kashmir has promoted peace in the region and increased the sense of security among the citizens.
Expressing his desire to continue the ceasefire on the LOC, the Indian Army Chief said that the residents of the border population have benefited the most from the ceasefire and there is no doubt that the ceasefire will help the security situation as well.
The Indian army chief added that a ceasefire on the Line of Control could ease years of tension between the two countries and change the tense situation, but it was the first step in a long journey to normalize relations.
“We want the ceasefire to continue,” he said. The Indian Army Chief said that the ceasefire has definitely improved the security situation, benefiting the citizens living in the border areas.
It may be recalled that in February this year, the Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan and India contacted the hotline.

In light of all this, the most important question that arises is whether the recent statement of the Indian Army Chief should be considered as an important step towards peace efforts or not.
Over the past few months, the two countries have repeatedly expressed their desire to establish good relations. The leadership of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are believed to be playing a role in improving relations between the two neighboring countries.
Last month, the foreign ministers of Pakistan and India visited the United Arab Emirates at the same time. However, the Pakistani Foreign Office denied the news about the backdoor meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Indian Counterpar.
