Naphtali Bennett, 49, is a far-right nationalist leader and former commando. Bennett is an opponent of the Palestinian state and a supporter of Israeli settlements. He claims to be more right-wing than Netanyahu.
The new prime minister is expected to be sworn in in a week’s time, after which Netanyahu will sit on the opposition bench after serving as Israel’s longest-serving prime minister.
Even after four elections in two years in Israel, no party has won a clear majority.
