KARACHI: It has been decided to keep schools closed in Sindh till August 19.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah while addressing a press conference along with Provincial Minister Ismail Rahu said that schools in the province would remain closed till August 19 as processions will start from 7th Muharram which causes inconvenience to children.
Syed Sardar Shah said that vaccinations of teachers and staff would also be monitored and efforts would be made to resolve the discrepancies in the decisions of the federation and the province.
The provincial education minister said that we are still teaching the miracles of radio, we have to review our curriculum, if the school system is improved then parents will bring their children to government schools.
Syed Sardar Shah said that he would convene another meeting on 8th Muharram to review the situation.
Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahu said that the boards would formulate a new schedule for the examinations. He said that cheating will not be allowed in the examinations.
Yesterday, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) had proposed to the Sindh government to extend business hours across the province till 8 pm.
Decisions of the NCOC meeting
Earlier a joint meeting of the NCOC, hosted by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah yesterday, decided to end the lockdown across Sindh, including Karachi, from Monday, August 9.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Asad Umar, NCOC Chief Coordinator Lt. Gen. Hamoodul Zaman, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister C-Pak Khalid Mansoor and Special Assistant for Health Dr. Faisal and others.
It was informed in the NCOC meeting hosted by Sindh Chief Minister that the rate of Corona cases in Karachi has come down by 3% and it is currently at 21%. Participants were informed that Corona is on the rise in Azad Jammu and Kashmir where the rate is 26%.
A statement issued after the meeting said that it has been decided to strictly implement Corona SOPs in 13 cities including Karachi and Hyderabad. The statement said that in view of Muharram, strict implementation of Corona SOPs has been emphasized and it has been decided to impose smart lockdown to control Corona.
According to sources, the meeting decided to allow business hours till 8 pm, open outdoor dining in restaurants and allow open wedding ceremonies.
Due to sanctions, increasing cases of Corona have stopped, Administrator Karachi
On the other hand, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab said that due to restrictions imposed by the Sindh government, the growing cases of corona virus in the province have stopped and now they have to be reduced.
Talking to media in Karachi, Murtaza Wahab said that people have to go for more vaccinations so that the pandemic can be controlled.
It may be recalled that in view of increasing cases of Corona virus, partial lockdown was implemented in Sindh from July 31 to August 8, but despite the lockdown, the rate of Corona positive cases in Karachi did not decrease significantly.
