KARACHI: Rain with thunderstorm has been forecast in different cities of Sindh due to which there is a danger of urban flooding in low lying areas.
According to the Director Meteorological Department Sardar Sarfraz the low pressure in East Sindh is increasing towards the south due to which rain is likely in the southern parts of Sindh and Punjab from September 1 to 3.
“Low pressure area is spreading from south to east near Karachi but the speed of low pressure is very slow, thunderstorms are likely to occur this afternoon due to which good rains on September 2 and 3. The Karachi city is expected to receive thundershowers and rain by September 4.
He said that there is a possibility of heavy and moderate rains in different cities of Sindh due to which there is a danger of urban flooding in the low lying areas of Karachi, Thatta and Badin.
The Director Meteorological Department said that another low pressure could form in the Bay of Bengal by September 6, which could lead to another monsoon spell in Sindh by September 8 and 9.
High alert at Karachi airport
On the other hand, the Civil Aviation Authority has issued an alert at Karachi Airport to deal with the rains and directed to park the planes in a safe place within the airport.
The alert issued by the Civil Aviation Authority said that weight should be attached to the aircraft so that the aircraft would be protected from collisions with other aircraft due to stormy winds.
The CAA has also ordered the deployment of bird shooters for safe landing and takeoff of aircraft.
